Introducing the Box League / Beginner sessions

Box League

The club is introducing a box league, this provides fun, flexible matchplay for all club players.
Why join the box league?

  • Play more matches (when it suits you)
  • Meet new players at your level
  • Improve your game through regular matchplay

How it works

  • Placed in a box of 4–6 players
  • Play each person in your box once
  • Each round runs for 4–6 weeks

No pressure: play as many matches as you can.

Quick rules:

Match Format 2 full sets (first to 6 games). If 1-1: match tiebreak to 10.
Match tiebreak First to 10, win by 2. Scoring: 1, 2, 3... (not 15/30/40)
Serving (tie break) Player A serves 1 point, then player B serves 2 points, then alternate 2 serves each
Points Win = 3 ; Loss = 1 ; Not played = 0

What you need to do:

  • Message the other players in your box
  • Arrange a match time that suits you both
  • Book a court as normal
  • Record your score on the relevant box sheet in the golf clubhouse

Ready to play ? Simply reply to this email with your phone number if you want to join. Your details will be displayed on the tennis club notice board located outside the courts.

Beginner & Back-to-Tennis Sessions – Would You Be Interested?

We’re exploring the idea of running some relaxed, friendly tennis sessions for adults who are either:

  • completely new to tennis and would like to give it a go, or
  • have played a little in the past but haven’t picked up a racket in years and would like to get back into it

These sessions would be aimed at helping people build confidence, learn (or re-learn) the basics, and improve skills in a fun and supportive environment.
No pressure, no need to be “good enough” – just a chance to get on court, meet others, and enjoy learning at a comfortable pace.

Sessions would likely include:

  • basic strokes and technique
  • simple drills and games
  • building confidence on court
  • understanding scoring and matchplay
  • a friendly, relaxed atmosphere

At this stage we’re simply gauging interest before putting anything in place. But if this sounds like something you’d be interested in, please let us know by replying to this email.

See you all on the courts!
